Kick-Off
During this short phase talent is onboarded, deliverable expectations are set and client feedback from the concept phase is integrated. It’s a good thing we have all that documentation from the concept phase!
Prototype
I am a huge fan of the prototype phase as it’s a fun moment to test all the assumptions of the concept phase. Understanding the core gameplay interaction and systems through iterative prototyping, play testing, and R&D results in a stronger design and a streamlined development process.
Alpha/Beta/Gold
I respect the traditional alpha, beta, gold development cycle as it supports clear tasks, goals and structured stakeholder approvals. it has been my experience, however, that the deliverables for each differ dependent on the project. I am used to adapting to the project needs in determining deliverables and setting expectations for each stage of development.
